Matthew Hoggard

Matthew Hoggard MBE is one of the most successful cricketers to have represented England in the modern era, making 93 appearances for his country in all competitions.

A model of consistency throughout his county and international career after making his debut in 1996, the former Yorkshire and Leicestershire fast-medium bowler took 248 wickets in 67 Tests for England, including becoming the 10th English bowler to take 200 Test wickets in 2006 when he was ranked fourth in the world.

A vital member of Michael Vaughan’s England side that won the epic 2005 Ashes series, Hoggard took a total of 786 first-class wickets before retiring in September 2013. Still heavily involved in the game, he now divides his time between coaching, being a cricket pundit and a highly successful after-dinner speaker.
