5 golfers earned their place to the national final of the World Amateur Golf Championships

Last Saturday, La Manga Club held one of the 29 qualifying rounds that lead to the final of the World Amateur Golf Championship, which will take place on our golf courses on 16th-18th September 2016.

La Manga Club, 8th August 2016 - The five qualifiers, one for each category, recieved a place to compete in the national final of the World Amateur Golfers Championship (WAGC) in a meeting last Saturday, which is going to return to La Manga Club as the national final will be played on our golf courses from 16th until 18th September. In around a month's time, Iñigo Carmona Ybarra (1st category), Augusto Carmona González (2nd category), José Juan Eulogio Leal (3rd category), Ricardo Mestre Galaza (4th category) and Andrés Gargallo López (5th category) will all fight to form part of the Spanish team that will travel Durban (South Africa) and that will attempt to win first place in the final of the Championship. 

On the first day of the national final, 17th September, it will be played on the South and West Courses (depending on the category), while on the second day, 18th September, it will be played on the South and North Courses.

Record number of participants

This year celebrates the 22nd edition of the World Amateur Golf Championship, whose final will be celebrated in Durban, South Africa, from 22nd to 29th October. During all of the qualifying rounds that have been taking place throughout the whole of Spain, more than 3,000 golfers have taken part, exceeding the figures from last years edition. Around 60 participants attended the meeting that took place last Saturday in La Manga Club.
