The 'hole by hole' guide to La Manga Club. A new series of blogs with professional advice on how to play all 18 holes on all three courses: The South, North and the West.  We continue with hole 6 on the South Course, our international championship course.

La Manga Club, 21st June 2016. The South Course at La Manga Club course is without doubt the best golf courses in Murcia and one of the best courses in Spain. It has hosted many major professional tournaments, amongst which are various Spanish Opens, PGA Championships and European Tour qualifying schools. It is almost 6500 metres from the white tees, with water hazards on 15 of its 18 holes and few hidden dangers.

The front nine are particularly challenging with two par 3s in excess of 200 metres, and some daunting par 4s which call for accurate driving between lakes and bunkers. The back nine, although shorter, has a number of intriguing dog-leg holes.

Practical tips: how to play hole 6 of the South Course

Par 5 – Handicap 2 – White tees: 537 metres Yellow tees: 515 metres Red tees: 424 metres

The 6th hole is a dogleg left par 5 with Stroke Index 2. Try to keep the ball slightly to the right side of the fairway but avoid the two bunkers which guard this side.

Stay away from the left side as it is protected by a large natural rambla. The second shot should be played down the left side of the fairway as there is an ornamental lake on the right. Make sure the large bunker which hugs the entire length of the left side of the green is avoided with the third shot.
