La Manga Club has been nominated for three awards in the sixth edition of the World Golf Awards

La Manga Club has once again been nominated in the sixth edition of their sector's most prestigious awards and again in three categories as: Spain's Best Golf Hotel (Príncipe Felipe 5* Hotel), Spain's Best Golf Course (South Course) and Europe's Best Golf Venue. The winner will be chosen via an online voting system, open to professionals in the tourism industry, of golf and also to the general public.

La Manga Club, 5th of March 2019. The World Golf Awards have just nominated La Manga Club for three categories for their sixth edition. The Príncipe Felipe 5* Hotel has received the prize for Spain's Best Golf Hotel for four editions, and has once more been chosen in this year's gala for the same award. Similarly, the South Course has been nominated for the third time as Spain's Best Golf Course, and the resort once again receives the nomination for Europe's Best Golf Venue, as was acknowledged in the 2017 and 2018 gala.

The winner is chosen by online voting which is open to the public and not just to professionals in the golf and tourism industry. Voting closes on the 15th of September and the awards will be presented on the 29th of October at a ceremony which is to be held at Abu Dhabi. The winners of each national category will face the other countries in the same category before revealing the winners at international level. The World Golf Awards are considered as one of the most prestigious awards in the golfing world and are part of the World Travel Awards.

The voting system is simple. To participate as a general public, the voter must register with their email or Facebook account. They must be 13 years old or over, and must not be an employee of or any company associated with the organization. To participate as a professional in the golf and tourism industry you must completed the relevant fields on the login page.

The company or organisation must be included in one of the sectors that appear in the list and have use of a professional email address. A professional vote will count five times more than that of the general public. While the voting period is still open, the vote can be changed, overriding the last vote held.

The Príncipe Felipe 5* Hotel was inaugurated in 1994 after the reconstruction of the old Las Mimosas Hotel. Refurbished in 2008 it is now a luxurious hotel with elegant decor, rooms designed for maximum comfort, a wide range of restaurants and bars, and spectacular views of the golf courses, the pool, the Mar Menor and Calblanque National Park. The Principe Felipe 5* Hotel offers a wide range of rooms: Deluxe rooms, rooms with terrace, Royal Club Rooms, plus an exclusive Executive Suite, Royal Club and Royal Suite.

For its part, the South Course has hosted many top-level professional tournaments including, various Spanish Opens, PGA championships and European tours. It is almost 6500 metres from the white tees, with water hazards on 15 of its 18 holes and a few hidden dangers. The first nine holes are particularly complicated, with two par 3s of 200 metres and a challenging par 4 which requires a tee shot between lakes and bunkers. Although shorter, the back nine has several doglegs.

The resort is home to two golf courses more: the North Course, designed by world-renowned golf course architect Robert Dean Putman and the Dave Thomas designed West Course; as well as an 18-hole pitch & putt course designed by Severiano Ballesteros, so La Manga Club is the perfect option to practice golf in Murcia.
