La Manga Club hosts the seventh edition of our resort's tennis tournament, the ‘La Manga Club Cup’
From the 24th to the 29th June, the Tennis Centre at La Manga Club will hold the ‘La Manga Club Cup VII’, a competition that is now in its seventh edition. This LTA Grade 3 tournament brings tennis fans together to play each other in one of the most well-known outdoor tennis centres in the Europe: a grand total of 28 tennis courts located in an environment surrounded by the Regional Park of Calblanque and next to the Mediterranean Sea.
La Manga Club, June 22nd 2018.- From the 24th to the 29th of June, La Manga Club will play host to the sixth edition of the ‘La Manga Club Cup’, a LTA Grade 3 tournament, which brings together a variety of tennis fans to play each other in one of the most well-known outdoor tennis centres in Europe: the Tennis Centre at La Manga Club, the official sponsor of the European Tennis Federation.
The event starts on Saturday 23rd June with the registration of the participants and the competition will start the following day, in a variety of differing categories. On Monday 25thJune, there will be a speech from Tennis Smart, an organisation that provides support to the most disadvantaged American schools, with the aim of realizing the dreams of players who would struggle to reach their goals without this help. In addition to the matches, the participants will have the opportunity to enjoy the other activities related to the tournament, such as the Tournament BBQ or the prize-giving ceremony.
Before the matches, there will also be the chance to train on the clay courts of La Manga Club, with a helping hand from the team of experienced professionals that make up the Tennis Academies, who prepare training programmes that can be adapted for all needs, levels and ages of any player. Those who play in the tournament have the chance to stay in either one of the two accommodation options that the resort has. The Príncipe Felipe 5* Hotel offers accommodation in a luxurious environment, offering a vast array of services to its guests and is located on the edge of the North and South courses, whilst being a few steps away from the Tennis Centre. On the other hand, there is the apartments of Las Lomas 4* Village, which offers fully serviced accommodation with views looking over the North Course and is a three-minute bus transfer from the Tennis Centre.
Guests at either of La Manga Club’s accommodation choices can benefit from the resort’s Wellness Centre, which has an indoor pool, steam rooms and sauna; and can enjoy a wide range of first-class restaurants on the resort, with over 15 bars and restaurants to choose from.
The Tennis Centre at La Manga Club consists of 28 courts, 20 of which are clay (including the Exhibition Court and Centre Court, the latter with a capacity of 1,200 spectators), 4 hard courts, 4 artificial grass courts, 2 paddle courts and one for squash. Due to these world class facilities, it has become the overseas training base for the British Tennis Federation, otherwise known as the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), the training base for internationally renowned professionals and the preferred destination for families to come and play tennis. On multiple occasions, it has hosted prestigious tournaments like the Davis Cup, Fed Cup and the ATP.
La Manga Club’s track record and experience is backed up by the successful organisation of tournaments, competitions and other sporting events, as well as the sporting academies that the resort holds in a number of sporting disciplines: golf, tennis, football, rugby, triathlon, cricket, mountain biking – to name but a few!
La Manga Club also keeps expanding its alliances with other important organisations in the sector, to ensure that it keeps offering the highest quality possible in the sport. With this in mind, the complex has extended its collaboration agreement with Tennis Europe, the biggest tennis association in the whole of Europe, comprising 50 federations, until 2018. From this, La Manga Club continues to be the ‘official resort collaborator’ for Tennis Europe, an agreement first reached in 2010.
