La Manga Club opens a Junior Elite Tennis Academy for top players

The Junior Elite  Tennis Academy is designed to improve and develop high level players who wish to compete or are already competing in national or international tournaments. The training programme, of 5 hours every day, is unique in the region and works by increasing pioneering techniques of your actual game: highlighting the control of the ball, tactics, footwork, mental and technical strength, and more.

La Manga Club, 24th April 2017 – La Manga Club has launched its new Junior Elite Tennis Academy in the Tennis Centre, the perfect option for those top players that wish to improve or develop their playing techniques and which, at this moment in time, have a training programme and a calendar of competitions. The players will have to pass a level entry test, which also includes an assessment of their game. This academy is specifically designed for top players that can compete or who already compete in a local, regional, national or international circle.

The training programme, unique in the region of Murcia, works in an intensive method with 5 hours a day consisting of specific exercise drills, tactics and moves to challenge and improve knowledge and understanding of the modern game. These groups are made up of a trainer and a maximum of four players. According to Lorenzo Martínez, director of Tennis at La Manga Club, “it is the most compete option for developing competing players that are already at a certain level.” These promising young tennis players will reach their full potential at the Competition Academy, which will practice ball control, tactics, footwork, techniques, game scenarios, mental strength, etc.

The Junior elite  tennis academy is just one of the many services which La Manga Club has to offer in their Tennis Centre, consisting of 28 courts, 20 of which are clay (in addition to the Exhibition Court and the Central Court, with a capacity of 1,200 spectators), four fast courts, four AstroTurf, two paddle courts and one for squash. Its characteristics is what has made it the training base abroad for the British tennis federation and Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), hosting prestigious tournaments like the Davis Cup, the Fed Cup and the ATP, and has been chosen on various occasions as one of the best tennis complexes in Europe and the whole world.

For those who wish to perfect their technique, La Manga Club offers a combination of court training, led by a team of experienced and multilingual professionals, following a unique methodology, adapting them to the needs of the client. Director of academies, James Rose, is in charge of leading all of the programmes.

James has extensive experience as a trainer, being director of Women’s Tennis in one of LTA’s High Performance Centres in London.

Even if you are a beginner, member of the club or an aspiring professional, at La Manga Club you can find all the help and training you need to get to the next level. The Tennis Centre offers a wide range of programmes, in addition to the Junior elite  tennis academy, to satisfy everyone’s needs: adult academy, tactics, intensive, private classes, etc., and a physiotherapy service for the centre’s students.

As official sponsors of the European Tennis Federation, La Manga Club continues to grow its alliances with important entities within the sector in order to continue to offer the maximum quality in this sport. The resort has extended its collaborative contract with Tennis Europe, the best tennis association in all of Europe and a composed of 50 federations, until 2018. This means that La Manga Club continues to be the ‘official resort collaborator’ for Tennis Europe, a cooperation that has been ongoing since 2010.

In the coming months, various tournaments are scheduled such as the 6th La Manga Club Cup, LTA Grade-3 Tournament, from 23rd to 30th June. La Manga Club’s Tennis Centre also offers daily tennis tournaments from Monday to Friday at 4pm; Exhibition matches (every Friday at 7pm); and a welcome day (Sundays at 5pm).
