Tennis: Almost 500 players participate in the 48th Spanish Veterans Championship in La Manga Club
The best senior tennis players from all over Spain will meet from 2 to 9 June in the Tennis Centre of La Manga Club to compete in the Veterans Championship. The competition will be hosted by tennis player Nico Almagro, current director of the tennis academy of La Manga Club.
La Manga Club, 31st of May, 2019.- La Manga Club Tennis Centre will host the Spanish Veterans' Championship, organised annually by the Spanish Tennis Federation, from 2 to 9 June. The event will be attended by around 500 players over 35 years old, coming from all over Spain, making the 48th edition of the tournament one of the most crowded since this competition began to be held.
During the days of the event there will be a welcome cocktail and a gala dinner, which will be hosted by Nico Almagro, new director of the tennis academy of La Manga Club. The Murcian tennis player is in charge of the management and organization of the daily academies of the resort's Tennis Center, after his recent retirement from high competition with more than 17 years of trajectory in the elite of the sport and having won 13 ATP titles, 11 ATP World Tour 250 and 2 ATP World Tour 500, all on clay.
The 2019 edition of the Spanish Veterans Championship will be played in three modalities: single, doubles and mixed; and has 11 male categories (from +35 to +85) and 9 female categories (from +35 to +75). The first matches will start on 1 June and the finals will be played between Friday 7 and Saturday 8 June.
