Great success for La Manga Club’s amateur golf competition, Audi Movistar+ Tour
This weekend, La Manga Club hosted the inaugural tournament of the fifth edition of the Audi Movistar+ Tour, considered the best amateur golf circuit in Spain. The event was a complete success, with numbers similar to last year. In the grand opening, the chosen venue for this year’s 2017 International Final was announced as the Dominican Republic.
La Manga Club, 24th April 2017 - The inauguration of the fifth edition of the Audi Movistar+ Tour at La Manga Club has been a total success with levels of participation similar to last year’s. Around 800 players signed up to the tournament and approximately 1,300 golfers in the total circuit.
The tournament, considered the best national amateur golf circuit, consisted of the following participants: Carlos Martínez, director of sports for Movistar+ and master of ceremonies; Cristina Ramos, director of sponsorships and events at Movistar+, Pepe Soler-Roig, responsible for Events and Sponsorships for Audi Spain; and Jordi Díez, director of Olagolf, accompanied with the director of Golf at La Manga Club, Eduardo Ruiz.
The peak of this week-end, dedicated to golf, took place at Saturday night’s big inaugural party. The event began with a dinner buffet accompanied by wine tasting and gin-tonics for nearly one thousand people. Attendees were excited to find out the venue for this tournament’s 2017 international Final, until they finally announced it: it will be held in Dominican Republic. Of course the party did not lack a great atmosphere and live music.
The event became a celebration of golf, with various activities parallel to the tournament. Such as a fitting with the professionals of Castellana Golf and Wilson, to help players with choosing the correct length for their golf clubs and the shaft which is best be adapted to the speed of their swing. And unique competitions conducted by the rest of sponsors. Audi brought a fleet of RS models that the participants could test out, and who could also download a mobile app to follow the live results of all the categories.
There was also a lot of excitement for the 'Golf Trick Shot Boys' show. Hundreds of people were congregated at La Manga Club’s driving range as they did not want to miss this great show. This artistic pair have made their skills with golf balls a real spectacle that surprises and entertains the audience.
The new season is looking promising with 30 tournaments more which will follow the inaugural held at La Manga Club. The Audi Movistar tournament will visit 17 golf courses during this Championship, which include 3 new additions. In November the Alicante's Villaitana Golf National Final will take place on 5th and 6th November. And the international finals, announced at La Manga Club, will be in the Dominican Republic.
