Javier Sánchez Vicario
When talking about Spanish tennis, the Sánchez Vicario family; Javier Sánchez Vicario along with his siblings Emilio and Arantxa, cannot be overlooked. In 1986 Javier won the US Open, reaching number one in the junior ranking, after which he became a professional tennis player. He won most of his titles in the doubles category, achieving 24 titles and a world ranking of number 9, as well as taking 4 singles titles, being ranked 23rd in the world.
His first singles final was against his brother Emilio, the first time in the history of tennis that two brothers had to compete against one another in the final of a top level tournament. Emilio won, just as he had in the majority of their 12 previous matches against each other.
Since retirement as a professional player he manages Greenset, a company dedicated to producing synthetic resin surfaces for hard tennis courts. Greenset is the surface on which numerous ATP professional circuit tournaments have been played, including the ATP World Tour Finals at the O2 Arena in London.
