Forfarshire for Scotland The Brave new ECL addition

The European Cricket League is delighted to announce Forfarshire Cricket Club as Cricket Scotland’s representatives at ECL20.

Founded in 1880, “The Forfs” are the current Scottish champions, having won the 2019 Cricket Scotland Grand Final and Eastern Premiership, before crowning an historic season by winning the T20 National competition, which also handily sealed their spot at ECL20.

Forfarshire were expertly led by Umair Mohammed and bolstered by star performers and Scotland regulars Craig Wallace and Michael Leask. However, at the end of “The Forfs” triumphant season, Mohammed announced that he would be calling it a day after 27 years of sterling service to spend more time with his young family. New Scotland international Scott Cameron takes over as captain, with very successful boots to fill.

“2019 was easily the most successful season in the history of Forfarshire CC and it is a massive honour for us to represent Scotland in this exciting new competition,“ said President Clark McConnachie.

"As Scotland's champion team, Forfarshire’s cricketing ability is at an unquestionably high level, so it will be a treat to watch their talents on display and see them challenged by the format and conditions in Spain,” said European Cricket League Founder Daniel Weston.

V.O.C. Rotterdam were crowned Kings of European cricket when they won the first edition of the European Cricket League (ECL) in magnificent fashion at La Manga Club in Spain. Naturally, the “Kings of Europe”, V.O.C. Rotterdam will automatically return to defend their majestic trophy between May 31 and June 7, 2020.

The second-staging of the tournament - ECL20 - promises to be even bigger and better. Due to huge interest and demand for the competition, ECL20 will double its number of champion teams to 16 - spread over eight days of exciting fast-paced T10 action.

We welcome Scotland’s Forfarshire Cricket Club to the 2020 European Cricket League.
