Dreux delight for France at ECL20

The first edition of the European Cricket League (ECL19) famously went into legend after unearthing a new cricketing superstar in the shape of Pavel Florin. But Dreux Cricket Club’s Ahmad Nabi also painted his name into the record books with the first ever century in ECL history - in the very same innings that Pavel’s cricketing exploits shot him to worldwide fame.

Dreux opening bat Nabi blasted a century off only 28 balls firing 14 sixes against Pavel Florin’s Cluj side, dealing exclusively in boundaries in reaching the magic milestone. After reaching his century, Nabi broke his run of boundaries by pinching a single and was clean bowled the next ball for a magnifique 105 off 30 deliveries. Following the Nabi onslaught, Cluj had no other option than to bring on Pavel Florin to bowl. Pavel soon went viral, breaking the internet and the rest is history.

And Nabi will be back with the French champions for another crack at ECL20 after Dreux romped to victory against USCCA in France’s T20 final. Opening bowler Wahid Abdul, a headband hero, will no doubt fancy his chances of claiming a few more scalps at ECL20.

V.O.C. Rotterdam were crowned Kings of European cricket when they won the first edition of the European Cricket League (ECL) in magnificent fashion at La Manga Club in Spain. Naturally, the “Kings of Europe”, V.O.C. Rotterdam will automatically return to defend their majestic trophy between May 31 and June 7, 2020.

We welcome France’s Dreux Cricket Club back to the 2020 European Cricket League.
