The best golf courses in the Murcia region

Campo de Golf La Manga, Murcia

The region of Murcia has a succulent offer for golf lovers. The uniqueness and care taken over some of the region's courses place them among the best golf courses in Spain. One of the main attractions of the golf clubs in Murcia is the mild climate all year round. The combination of sea and mountains also creates unique landscapes where playing golf with the family is a real pleasure.

Throughout the length and breadth of the province of Murcia there are more than twenty golf courses where you can enjoy playing, practising or getting started in our favourite sport. Whatever your level, in this region there is a course to suit the characteristics of your game. The opening of Corvera airport halfway between the city of Murcia and Cartagena is boosting the golf courses in the area with players coming from all corners of the world.

Let's take a look at some of the best golf courses in Murcia city and province.

Alhama Signature in Alhama de Murcia

The Alhama Signature is one of the creations of the great Jack Nicklaus and is located within a nature reserve. The wide fairways and the high number of bunkers make this course an example of an American style course. It is also quite a long course with almost 7 km from the white markers. Precisely because of its length, it requires precise handling of the driver and any other club used from the tee. The design of the course requires a little prior analysis on each hole in order to design the strategy. Although for many players it is one of the most demanding courses in the region, the course offers more conservative playing alternatives.

Savouring the views and the nature of Alhama Signature along the 18 holes, five lakes and more than 115 bunkers with all kinds of shapes, is a pleasure for body and soul. For many players it is one of the best golf courses in Spain.

La Manga Club Resort

La Manga Club Resort is a real challenge for golf lovers. From its magnificent location and with a landscape that blends mountain and sea, the Resort offers three attractive courses to suit all types of players. Three internationally renowned courses designed and remodelled by great names such as Robert Dean Putman, Dave Thomas and Arnold Palmer, for a total of 54 holes. 54 challenges that satisfy and test the skills of the most experienced player or 54 opportunities for the most novice players.

The offer of La Manga Club Resort is completed with magnificent and renowned academies for children and adults. The golf club has the most complete facilities that make it the most exclusive tourist resort on the Costa Cálida. Tennis centre, gymnasium, football pitches, bars and restaurants... if you are looking for a special place for your next summer family holiday, La Manga Club should be your first choice.

El Valle Golf

El Valle Golf is a course with 115 bunkers, two lakes and just over 6 km of 71-stroke course. The course is among the best golf courses in Murcia province on its own merits. This course is also the work of Jack Nicklaus and its 18 holes invite the player to play his best shot and try out his whole repertoire. The peculiar landscape of this course is reminiscent of the popular courses of California, full of undulating shapes and high greens, protected by impressive bunkers and manicured green fairways. Throughout the course we can see large limestone towers, which give personality to the course and make it necessary to deftly handle the clubs from the tee to put the ball in the fairway.

Hacienda del Álamo at Fuente Álamo

Dave Thomas was in charge of designing this 18-hole course, considered one of the best courses in the Murcia region. The secret of this design is that it blends in perfectly with the natural terrain and all the hazards are positioned in such a way as to provide a challenge for all players. Halfway between Mazarrón and Cartagena, we find a golf course full of excitement.

The Hacienda del Álamo course also has one of the most complete practice areas in Spain. Six short holes for training, designed for all handicaps, together with bunker, chip and putting green areas, join the practice area of the Resort. Facilities that will delight any player. The facilities also include a sports centre, an English pub, a Sport Bar and a Club House where no detail is missing.

As you can see, Murcia is also home to some of the best golf courses in Spain and is a top destination for lovers of this sport and family sports.
