An evening of giving with the Alda Foundation at La Manga Club
Last Friday 7th August, we celebrated the second charity gala dinner in aid of the Alda Foundation at the 5* Hotel Príncipe Felipe swimming pool. The unparalleled soirée raised funds for the Alda Foundation, an entity which seeks to improve education and social integration for children in living in Paraguay.
La Manga Club, 14th August 2015. The cause behind the Alda Foundation is simple: president, Jordi Robinat adopted his two sons,Alberto and David as babies in Paraguay, and in 2002 he decided to set up the foundation so that other children in Paraguay could have access to basic education.
The event started at 8:30pm and hosted over 250 guests from various European countries. Among those who attended the event were our ambassador and manager of the Scottish national football team, Gordon Strachan, and entrepreneurs José Jover, Jose Ángel, Pedro Díaz, and Gerardo Cuartero.
A charity auction was held in the name of fundraising, and was presented by former president of Euro Disney, PY Gerbeau.
The auction was comprised of 6 itemsincluding a ball and football shirt signed by Leo Messi, tickets for an Arsenal vs Manchester United football match and return flights to London.
The most touching part of the evening came when young Alberto and David took to the stage to tell guests how fortunate they are and relate to the audience the obligation they feel to help other children from their native country and to offer them all the opportunities that they themselves have had access to.
The night drew to an end with the music of pop group Upside Down and guests were able to take home a gift commemorating the 2015 gala. Here is a link to a selection of images from the night.
Many families and groups of friends who were holidaying at the resort attended the event, since La Manga Club is such a special place for a holiday with the children, as a family or as a couple.
