La Manga Club, 31 May 2016 - The Spanish Veteran Tennis Championship was organised by the Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) and was highly successful both in the participation and organisation. More than 400 players took part in the tournament held from 22 to 29 May at the prestigious La Manga Club Tennis Centre.

The director of Tennis at the resort, Lorenzo Martinez, commented “The federation has highlighted the great organisational capacity of La Manga Club for events of this magnitude”, adding that “all parties and events were held according to the planned programme and not one single delay or complication was recorded during the tournament”. The excellent organisation of the championship was highlighted on the most intense day of the tournament, Wednesday 25, when more than 150 tennis matches were played.

The competition brought together players over 35 in both Men’s and Ladies’ categories - singles and doubles. The matches were played out over the best of three sets with a tie-break system, except in the individual category for over 65s and doubles.
