La Manga Club, chosen for the seventh consecutive year as the best golf resort in Spain
The readers of the magazine Today's Golfer, one of the most prestigious in its sector, have again named La Manga Club as the best golf resort in the country. With three 18 hole golf courses, a 9 hole practise area and magnificent training facilities, the resort cements its place for the seventh year in a row at the head of Spanish golf.
La Manga Club, 19th January 2018 - The prestigious resort in Murcia, south-east Spain, has been awarded, for the seventh consecutive year, the title of Spain's Best Golf Resort by the British magazine, Today's Golfer, one of the most prestigious organisations of its kind. This recognition was voted for by readers in their majority of one of the UK’s best-selling golf magazines, alongside many other of the best golf hotels and resorts in the UK and rest of Europe.
The new accolade extends La Manga Club’s amazing record of having won the coveted title every year since it was introduced, and is further confirmation of the resort’s status as one of Europe’s most popular golf resorts. It similarly recognises the level of committment from each and every employee of the organisation, who strive to provide excellent golf facilities, evidenced by the 55% vote margin from readers of the publication.
Jose Asenjo, general director of La Manga Club, said: “It’s always an honour to win any award, but to have been voted as the number one golf resort in Spain seven years in a row is an unbelievable achievement. Receiving such a large share of the vote is further evidence of the high regard that La Manga Club continues to be held in with UK golfers and the outstanding five-star experience that we offer to all our guests. This is a fantastic way to mark our 45th anniversary and gives us a great platform to build on over the coming months.”
The award is one of a number of top recent honours to have been bestowed on La Manga Club. At the end of 2017, the Spanish Royal Household granted La Manga Club the title of 'Real Golf' (Royal), a characteristic that only golf clubs with more than 25 years of history can obtain. Furthermore, during the month of November, La Manga Club won the awards for Spain's Best Golf Hotel and Europe's Best Golf Venue at the World Golf Awards, as well as the award for Best Luxury Resort and Villas in 2018. Finally, just a few days ago, the website Top 100 Golf Courses included our West Course in Europe's top golf courses for the first time in its history.
Among the improvements made over the last few years, in 2016, the new Golf academy was put into place, led by the experienced Swedish professional Thomas Johansson at the resort’s rebranded Golf Training Centre. In addition, as well as the purchase of a new golf buggy fleet and the redesign of the pro shop formed part of the resort’s on-going upgrade to its food and beverages facilities. Throughout 2017, the Spike & Sports Bar, previously known as Bar 37, was rennovated alongside the Clubhouse terrace, not to mention the more ambicious projects such as obtaining new machinery and adaptating tees and pathways on three courses which will be carried out this year.
If these projects weren't enough, 2018 for La Manga Club will bring the continued success of this sport to its clients, by welcoming professionals and ametuers alike at the PGA Europe's Pro Am International tournament for the fifth consecutive year in May, and the Canal+ Audi tournament in April, as well as the traditional La Manga Club Open in December.
