Kenny & Marina Dalglish
One of the greatest football players Scotland has ever produced, Kenny Dalglish’s name is legendary throughout the footballing world.
The former Celtic and Liverpool striker scored 30 goals in 102 appearances for Scotland while he won every major honour during a glittering domestic career – including scoring the winning goal for Liverpool against Bruges in the 1978 European Cup Final.
Dalglish has been a resident and keen supporter of La Manga Club for the last four decades. He has also enjoyed his fair share of success on the resort’s famous fairways, winning the prestigious Footballers’ Golf Classic on three occasions.
Kenny and Marina were married on 26th November 1974. Together they created The Marina Dalglish Appeal in 2004 to raise money for cancer care. Among their many achievements, they were able to open a Centre for Oncology at University Hospital Aintree in 2007 thanks to the £1,500,000 they raised.
Dalglish, as well as his friend Gordon Strachan, have been coming to the resort since the 70’s, where on many occasions, they have reminisced that their kids grew up here and now they are enjoying time with their grandchildren.
