Tennis, football and golf: a very sporty and charitable week, all for the benefit of the Alda Foundation
Throughout this week, there has been a variety tournaments and sports events being held at La Manga Club to help raise money for the Alda Foundation, a charitable organisation that seeks to improve the lives of children in Paraguay. Tennis, football and golf are the main sports being played during this charitable week.
La Manga Club, 4th August 2016 – Like every year, La Manga Club is helping raise funds for the Alda Foundation, an organisation dedicated to improving the living conditions of children in Paraguay. This year, in addition to the usual Charity Gala Dinner that will take place on Friday 5th August, different sporting events have been organised, with tennis, football and golf being the undisputed main events.
The Charity Week started on Sunday 31st July, with a family day in the Tennis Centre at La Manga Club. During this day, parents and children enjoyed games and competitions with the Tennis professionals in the morning, which culminated with a delicious paella and a visit from our mascot Max. Those that came first in each category (male, female and child) received a price and all of the young participants received yellow sunglasses as a gift.
The next sporting event focused on football and with the help of the Head Coach of the Scottish National Team, Gordon Strachan. This charitable meeting attracted roughly 70 children and their families. Everyone who came enjoyed spending time in the presence of the ex-professional Scottish footballer, while also receiving advice on how to improve their skills, taking photographs and getting his autograph. All in all, it was a highly enjoyable evening for all involved. Strachan was very focused and detailed when watching the participants of La Manga Club’s football academy train and offered the promising footballers invaluable advice on how to improve.
Yesterday was the turn of the charity golf tournament, which took place on the North Course and both adults and children were allowed to enter. All of the participants loved the charitable organisation and showed a desire to return next year to participate in the next charity tournament. The day of golf finished with the prizes being handed out and a cocktail on the outskirts of the South Course.
The participation of this first edition of the Charity Sports week for the benefit of the Alda Foundation was a great success, a week that will culminate tomorrow with the traditional celebration of the Charity Gala Dinner, in which more than 200 people will attend. A night full of surprises and prizes, such as the opportunity to receive a night in the hotel, green fees, flights to London with tickets to Wimbledon and Ryder Cup tickets, amongst other prizes.
