Matt Maynard

A popular figure in English cricket for the last three decades, Matthew Maynard has enjoyed successful careers as both a player and a coach, most notably for Glamorgan.

He became the youngest-ever player to score 1,000 runs for Glamorgan in 1986, and the 54 centuries he scored for the county during his playing career is also a record - the most any player has scored for the club.

A right-hand batsman known for his attacking strokeplay, Maynard played four Tests and 14 one-day internationals for England, while one of his biggest achievements during a five-year spell as Glamorgan captain was leading his side to the County Championship title in 1997.

After retiring from cricket at the end of 2004, he embarked on a career in coaching and, after spells as head coach with Glamorgan and Somerset, he returned to take charge of Glamorgan for a second time at the start of 2019.
