Introduce your children to the exciting world of triathlon at the La Manga Club academy
The young ones will want to book their place at the Triathlon Academy at La Manga Club over July and August. The aim: to acquire motor skills and to discover the joys and benefits of triathlon.
La Manga Club, 13 July 2015. Triathlon is the latest on-trend sport, in addition to being an all-round event which combines three of the most popular sporting disciplines: swimming, cycling and running. It is also very versatile and can be adapted to the requirements of any participant. The La Manga Club Triathlon Academy has taken the young ones into consideration and has therefore, decided to organise a summer programme aimed at children aged between 7 and 15. If you have ever considered a family holiday at La Manga Club and you would like your children to take up triathlon, don’t hesitate in signing them up to the academy.
The programme will take place over three weeks:from 20th – 24th July, from 27th to 31st July and from 3rd to 7th August.
Three age categories have been established:
Under 9, for children aged between 7 and 9. Training will be based around and delivered through playing games. The timetable will be from Monday to Friday from 9am to 11am.
Under 12, for children aged between 10 and 11, who will be taught about triathlon as a sporting event and will cover a maximum distance of 10km on flat roads with no traffic. The timetable will be from Monday to Friday from 9am to 11am.
Under 15, for children aged between 12 and 15. This group will be taught about the technical aspects of the sport as well as an introduction to specific distances by category. The timetable will be from Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm.
The week will take on the following format for all age categories (depending on their level):
Thursday: Discipline specific warming up and transitions
Friday: Mini competition
Road safety, an introduction to controlling a bike, perfecting the front crawl technique, speed games, water skills and balance and turns on a bike are just some of the new skills that they will learn and build upon.
Prices are from 225€ to 265€ per week of training and include bike and helmet hire.
