La Manga Club says farewell to an unforgettable summer

Whoever said that summer was a time to relax had obviously not heard of La Manga Club. The resort has experienced one of its most active summers, with various social and sporting events and visits from personalities from the sport and entertainment world. The resort continues to confirm itself, summer after summer, as the greatest centre for activities in the area and the perfect place for a family holiday with children.

Social events

This year the resort successfully celebrated three of its essential dates from its summer nights calendar: the two White Nights of La Cala, which were fully booked on both 22th July and 12th August, and the charity dinner on behalf of the Alda Foundation. This event brought together more than 250 people in La Manga Club on 5th August and is becoming one of La Manga Club’s social and charitable events in which you can’t afford to miss. Within this Gala dinner, you could see a few famous faces, such as the President of FC Barcelona, Josep María Bartomeu, former Spanish Tennis Player Javier Sánchez Vicario and the well-known Murcian Jeweller Paco Blasco.

During the months of July and August, La Manga Club also received visits from famous people from the world of sport and entertainment and other well-known international personalities. To name just a few that have passed through the resort this year: the singer Alejandro Sanz and the presenter of Los 40 Principales Tony Aguilar, in addition to various popular young British DJs and musicians, like Lauren Pope and Kelly Ackreman; captain of the British Davis Cup team, Leon Smith; and former Spanish tennis player, Javier Sánchez Vicario, who is always ready to play in one of our exhibition matches in the Tennis Centre.

Sports and summer in La Manga Club are synonymous with football. There were many top teams that chose the resort for their preseason training. July was a very busy month on our football pitches with the presence of British teams Sheffield United FC and Bristol City FC, in addition to Granada ‘B’ and the local teams of UCAM Murcia and Cartagena FC. Also, you can’t forget this celebration, for the third year running, the Barça camp took place for a week at the resort and brought together around 130 children for a week long training camp.

Sporting events

At the end of July, La Manga club played host to one of the most important events of the summer, the III Sunset Race, a race that took place during the early evening through the resort’s golf courses. This year around 400 people took part and is becoming one of the most popular sporting events in the area.

This year, La Manga Club also held an exciting week of sport for all the family with the Alda Foundation’s Charity Sport Week. For the first time, the Alda Foundation and La Manga Club organised, in addition to the traditional Charity Dinner, a week packed full of sport, in which golf, football and tennis were the main sports in question. With this, those who participated in the Charity Sports Week enjoyed tennis matches with our professionals, family rounds of golf and exclusive training sessions with the Head Coach of the Scottish National Team, Gordon Strachan.

New spaces and renovations

In addition, this summer, La Manga Club has opened a new bar to add to our varied selection, the Chillout Terrace, located on the banquet terrace in the Príncipe Felipe 5* Hotel, a place that you can enjoy a drink with some of the best views in all of the resort.

Summer has also brought changes to some of our most emblematic bars. The 37 Spike & Sports Bar has been completely renovated with a much fresher look, in accordance with the needs of our clients, as well as a new menu. And the Piano Bar has also closed it’s doors and will re-open again in a couple of weeks with a new and ground-breaking outlook on the nightlife in La Manga Club.
