La Manga Cub unveils new Chelsea FC Soccer School host agreement

La Manga Club and the Chelsea FC Foundation have recently signed a collaborative agreement that invites the Chelsea FC Soccer School for a three year period, beginning in Easter 2018. The deal was formalized at Stamford Bridge, the Chelsea FC stadium, in the presence of José Asenjo, CEO of La Manga Club, and Brendan Dwyer, Commercial and Marketing Director. Their visit coincided with last week’s Carabao Cup match between Chelsea FC and Nottingham Forest, and as a result they were joined in the tunnel by Spanish international Alvaro Morata prior to the 5-1 victory.

«It is a great honour for La Manga Club to partner with Chelsea FC to promote the sports and leisure development of our resort» José Asenjo commented. According to Shaun Gore, director of the Chelsea FC Foundation, «We are delighted to be running Chelsea Soccer Schools at La Manga Club, a destination reknown for its fantastic training facilities and this will enable the children to develop and learn while in a safe and fun environment». He also added that «We are really excited to be teaming up with the resort to offer a truly fantastic footballing experience».

Boasting extensive facilities, including eight FIFA-approved grass pitches, La Manga Club is a popular choice as a destination for domestic and international teams seeking a warm-weather football training break.

The first three Chelsea Foundation junior academies are scheduled to take place at the resort next year, with the opening camp being held the week before Easter followed by two over the summer from July 3-15 and from August 21 to September 3.

The Chelsea Foundation is committed to developing the game across all levels and ages, and the new schools will be open to boys and girls between the ages of four and 16. As well as offering children the chance to train and develop their skills on a daily basis they will also receive an official Chelsea training kit.

The commercial director of La Manga Club, Brendan Dwyer, said that «With outstanding facilities and a fabulous year-round climate, La Manga Club has a reputation for working with some of the biggest names in sport, making this partnership an ideal fit for the resort». He also added that  «Chelsea have been one of the best teams in Europe over the last decade and they enjoyed a fantastic year last season, culminating in winning the title. The club’s men’s and ladies’ teams have both enjoyed considerable success in recent years and we’re delighted to have this opportunity to work together and grow the game».

La Manga Club is a prestigious destination for the best teams and squads at an international level. More than 75 clubs from 19 different countries have utilized our facilities this year, including the Chelsea under-18 and 23s, who visited the Football Centre recently to prepare for the 2017-18 season.
